Vestibular Assessments

Feeling dizzy, off-balance or suffering from vertigo? We can help.

The purpose of a vestibular assessment or vestibular function test (VFT) is to help determine the health of the vestibular portion of your inner ear. This is recommended for anyone experiencing dizziness, vertigo, imbalance or other related symptoms, as the vestibular portion of the inner ear contributes largely to our overall sense of balance and ability to stay upright.

Common vestibular issues include:

  • Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV)
  • Labyrinthitis
  • Meniere’s disease
  • Perilymph fistulas

A hearing evaluation is essential to help pinpoint a cause and lead you to a successful treatment.

To treat you, first we need to determine what’s ailing you. A comprehensive hearing evaluation will allow us to confirm or rule out certain disorders and determine the appropriate next step such as a referral to an ENT Specialist or treatment by a vestibular physiotherapist. It’s the first step to helping you get back to feeling like your usual self again.
